Milarki In review: Witney Warhammer Six

In Review is not really a new podcast here at Milarki. We’re just trying to put a name to our small articles where we actually participate in gaming.

Last weekend I packed my backpack and headed to England. Lets not linger on the trip itself. Just trust me that everything that could go wrong did and only 25 hours later I landed in a rainy Nottingham. 

There I met up with Nuno Martins of NEON fame, and together we drooled over the dioramas in Warhammer World, as you do, before jumping in the car and take the last part of the trip up to Witney and the Witney Warhammer narrative event.

Over six year, Phil and Charles have spun their tale or heroes and villains and developed the narrative of their own little place in the mortal realms. This has made people very invested and most players have been there for several of the instalments, making me and Nuno one of the few newbies. But we felt immediately at home as everyone took care of us and ushering us into the Witney folds.

The short version of the story is, two well known warlords fighting over the region trying to gain control and influence leading up to a big boss fight. It was a great narrative with great tables representing the different regions on the map. Each with their own environmental  table rules.

Soo many rules for both me and Nuno who are in most aspects beginners of Age of Sigmar. With the rules of the core game, the custom battle plans and the environmental rules we struggled a bit. Luckily our opponents, if you could call them that, were extremely helpful and together we had five great games even if we only reached end of turn two for most of them. 2 wins, 2 losses and a draw was what we could manage, for those who are interested in things like that. Me and Nuno played a team with Nurgle so 1000p each. 

All in all it was a blast and we met so many great people that we will be back again next year for sure. I even felt so inspired that I have started to plan my own narrative event in the future. That’s what I call a successful weekend.  

Me and Nuno decided to record a little review of the event for those who want to listen. Its night time so we are both tired after a long weekend but enjoy.
