Better Terrain, Better Tactics: Free Obscuring Templates

After struggling to find a good template for obscuring terrain that not only looks great but also meaningfully interacts with gameplay, we decided to take matters into our own hands—and designed one ourselves.

Now, we’re excited to share it with you!

The concept is simple: the bases are fully customizable, so you can place whatever you’d like to serve as “trees” or cover. Too often during games we’ve seen trees or scatter terrain removed from the board, which means they stop affecting movement or creating natural chokepoints. That can make battles feel a little too flat, tactically speaking.

To solve this, our template allows you to remove the “trees” if needed—for example, to make room for wings, weapons, or other model parts that extend beyond the base. However, the empty holes on the base are still treated as impassable terrain, ensuring they continue to influence movement and add an extra layer of strategy to the battlefield.
